From Hell’s Heart

Disposable paper brains and folding plastic planes
crashing and crackling in a drunken fire-side vision,
air thickening and blood quickening to silent violence
as my heart descends and my liver writhes.

Uneven paths down unlit back streets lead me home to you
while the magpies and lyres selectively slash tyres
and the mismatched eyes of ordinary disguise
stare blankly back from puddles of silver mirror.

Shattered shapes as the world unmakes herself
breaks herself over the wheeling orbital drift
and continental shift as invisible mountains rise
in the cloudy depths of a submerged sky.
